Spiritual
support centre :
The
hospice also aims to provide cancer
patients at the beginning stages
with spiritual support in their
quest for strength and courage to
deal with the illness. Besides
prayers, they participate as members
of a volunteer support team for
the hospice. Patients gain hope and
enhance their faith and according
to Buddhist's belief - accrue
merits through charitable work and
receive blessings. Their happier frame
of mind augurs well in boosting
their immune system.
The
centre is headed by a nun and
monk who will conduct Dharma talks,
chanting classes, meditation and also
single day retreats. Among participants
are disciples, supporters, volunteers and
the beginning stage cancer patients.
The Amitabha Buddha image in the
garden of the hospice provides a
place for the patients and their
relatives a place of solace and
performing rituals.
